About Wife of the Tools
Run by one woman, two cats, a tweenager, and a rapidly cooling cup of coffee.
Hi, I’m JJ — professional spreadsheet tamer, tradie admin wrangler, homeschool ringmaster, snack-dispenser-in-chief… and the slightly unhinged voice behind Wife of the Tools.
No, I’m not the one on the roof. I’m the one running the business from a dining table buried under job sheets, homeschool worksheets, half-finished Canva designs, and a cat named Chip who thinks invoices are nap-time mats. His brother, Chunki, supervises from the printer. My 12-year-old daughter (going on 35) offers unsolicited opinions and steals my stationery.
So What Is Wife of the Tools?
It’s a blog. It’s a digital toolbox. It’s a place where tradie wives, small biz owners, chaotic creatives, and burnt-out spreadsheet warriors can find:
-
Funny-but-useful blog posts about running a business while living a life that feels like a never-ending group assignment.
-
Canva templates, Google Sheets trackers, and admin tools that actually work in real life — not just on Pinterest.
-
Sanity-saving systems built for people juggling invoices, homeschool projects, and possibly screaming into a mug of instant coffee.
I’ve taken 15+ years of figuring things out the hard way — the quotes, the comms, the receipts that go missing right before tax time — and turned them into something you can use without having a meltdown in your inbox.
Who It’s For:
-
Wives, partners, and co-pilots of tradies (we see you doing everything)
-
Small biz owners working from their kitchen tables in Ugg boots
-
ADHD brains trying to run a business without losing their last working brain cell
-
Women who want systems, not spreadsheets that trigger existential dread
-
People who need admin help but don’t want to be talked down to by a dude in a polo shirt named Gary
What You'll Find Here:
-
💻 Blog posts that feel like reading your own diary — if your diary swore and made jokes about quoting jobs in between spelling tests.
-
📂 Digital tools built for chaos — invoice templates, trackers, admin kits, and systems that make your business feel less like a circus.
-
🐾 The occasional cat-related disruption, because this is real life and the cats run the office.
-
📝 Honest conversations about ADHD, motherhood, business ownership, and why your inbox is a hostile environment.
Why I Started This:
Because no one talks about what it’s really like behind the scenes — when your work hat and your mum hat are the same damn hat, and it’s covered in cat fur.
Because not everyone can afford a PA or a fancy subscription platform.
Because I got sick of trying to make “productivity” work for a life that doesn’t look like a TikTok influencer’s schedule.
I wanted to build systems that fit my real life — and maybe yours too.
Final Thoughts (Before the Printer Jams Again):
Wife of the Tools is for the women who are doing it all — quoting jobs while boiling pasta, sending invoices while the cat vomits on the job sheet, and trying to find a quiet moment to plan next week... while the whiteboard marker dries out mid-task.
You’re not doing it wrong. You’re just doing it real.
And you don’t need to do it alone.
So grab a snack, open a tab (or 37), and stay a while. The templates are functional. The stories are true. And the chaos? That's just part of the brand.
